FUNGAL NAILS
Onychomycosis Treatments
Fungal Nails (Onychomycosis) is a stubborn condition that can be challenging to eliminate. To effectively tackle this issue, we have invested nearly a quarter of a million dollars in cutting-edge laser technology, ensuring the most advanced treatment available.
Modern technology offers individuals an innovative way to treat persistent nail fungus. At Adelaide Fungal Nail Laser Clinic, our expert podiatrists employ the most advanced laser treatments to combat fungal nail infections.
Nail Fungus Treatment Options
Ignore

Untreated fungal infections can advance from the tip to the root of the nail, leading to thickened, discoloured, and ingrown nails that cause pain. The infection may also spread to other toes and even the opposite foot.
Over the Counter Nail Paints

While they offer a convenient and cost-effective option, most over-the-counter antifungals tend to overpromise and underdeliver. Unfortunately, their success rate is low as they fail to penetrate the nail effectively. We can provide alternative treatment options, including specialised nail polishes not available in chemists.
Oral Medications

Despite their effectiveness, oral medications aren’t ideal for everyone due to their expense, the risk of liver and kidney complications, or an aversion to pills. The fact that regular blood tests are required every 4 to 6 weeks to monitor liver function underscores their potential harm.
Surgery

Because the fungus primarily lives in the nail bed, removing part of the nail often doesn’t stop the infection from returning. In severe, painful cases, total nail removal is an option, though it results in exposed skin, which may not be aesthetically pleasing.
Laser Treatment
Laser therapy for fungal nails improves circulation by stimulating blood vessels, ensuring better nutrient supply to the new nail plate while using heat to eradicate the fungus, leading to healthier regrowth.
Laser technology is evolving quickly, with older models in use for 5–10 years and newer, more effective lasers offering better fungal eradication. We utilise the only Class 4 Laser approved for treating nail fungus, while most others on the market are Class 1 or Class 2.
Types of Lasers
After carefully evaluating different laser treatments, we found two technologies that stood out. Instead of choosing just one, we invested in both to ensure optimal results. By using the Class-2 Lunula Cold Laser alongside the Class-4 K-Laser in each appointment, we achieved better outcomes, helping clients get the clear, healthy nails they wanted.
Class-2 and Class-4 K-Laser
At Adelaide Fungal Nail Laser Clinic, we utilise the Class-2 Erchonia® Lunula Laser® and the Class-4 K-Laser—two breakthrough technologies offering new hope for those struggling with stubborn onychomycosis. By combining both lasers, we harness six independent wavelengths per session, effectively delivering both low and high-level power for optimal results.
Our Unique Approach
Unlike clinics that solely offer the Lunula Laser, our patients are always seen by a qualified podiatrist at each visit—not a receptionist or beauty therapist. This ensures expert care and also allows you to claim on health insurance or Medicare if you have a doctor’s referral. We proudly service Adelaide serving patients from Walkerville, Unley, Prospect, St Peters, Brompton, Norwood, Thebarton, Mile End, Parkside, Glenside, Fullarton, Frewville, Myrtle Bank, Highgate, Glenunga and beyond.
